Optimization of Permanent Magnet Parameters in Axial Flux Rotary Converter for HEV Drive

This paper focuses on the development and optimization of a special hybrid electric vehicle arrangement known as four-quadrant rotary converter. The introduction summarizes main advantages disadvantages existing topologies in radial axial flux arrangements. Based previous experience, we developed novel that eliminates problems associated with solutions. In addition, this evaluates subsequently describes permanent magnet parameters an converter unit. A number 3D finite element method optimizations were performed to find optimal mass distribution magnets frontal area outer rotor involved magnets’ material, shape, thickness order achieve maximal efficiency entire unit while leaving its nominal output power speed unaffected. results show increase overall theoretical from 90.2% 94.4% following optimization.
